Review: Macanudo Gold Label Prince Nelson

Hrm, this is a pretty mild cigar, kind of a nice change from the full bodied cigars I've been smoking recently. If I kept normal hours this would be a great smoke to put you in the modd for a good night's rest. But I have much more smoking and reviewing to do! At the moment I'm smoking this cigar, listening to Led Zeppelin, and watching the snow start to fall, a relaxing event indeed. This is a very nice smoke, long lasting, and it should be at around 7 and a half inches long, I've been smoking for about an hour now, this would also make for a great cigar to smoke while playing a nice long game of poker. Although not labeled as an after dinner cigar, it could hod it's own after a nice roast and some very flavorful gravy. OK you caught me, that's what I had for dinner. I will probably buy more of these when I get the chance, now let's start writing down some actual figures.

Nose: 7
When I smelled the wrapper it smelled a lot more mild than it actually was, it smelled so mild that I was almost afraid that it would be like smoking air, but Macanudo isn't one of the top selling brands for nothing.

Feel: 10
Very well made, not too soft but not rock hard like some cigars I've had.

Taste: 6
I gave it a pretty average rating for taste because I usually prefer a strong cigar. But I'm not saying that it tastes bad, it's still a very nice cigar.

Draw: 10
Where many a cigar has failed in the past, this cigar far surpassed my expectations.

Room Note: 10
I'm impressed with the room note, you can clearly smell the cigar without going "Holy Christ what have you been smoking, a cigar or a book of matches?" This one probably cause your better half to complain (much.)

Measurements:
7.5 inches and a ring size of 52

Until next time, happy smoking!

Review: Partagas Cifeuntes

Wow! This is one robust cigar! It's strong but not overpowering the particular cigar I'm smoking right now is a Perfetco shape. It started out VERY strong, as if o say "hey wake up this isn't a routine smoking experience!" Then it went from very robust to quite smooth, but still with that robust flavor intermingled with the smooth creamy hickory flavor. During the end of the smoke that strong robust flavor came back full swing it was a great time to grab a cup of sweet coffee and sit back and enjoy my great cigar. Obviously this one gets very high ratings.

Nose: 10
I give the Nose a 10 because it perfectly fortold how great this smoke was going to be

Feel: 9
Very nice and fresh, the only reason it's not getting a 10 is because I prefer a different shape , but that's only personal opinion, feel free to u it to a 10 yourselves.

Taste: 10
As previously stated, great cigar it earns the Partages label

Draw: 8
This is actually the second one of this variety I've smoked, the first was a bit easier to draw from

Room Note: 10
Definatly Mantastic.

Life in my Humidor: 7
Since it is such a fine smoke, I would definatly save a few back, a smoke like this needs a real special occasion for me.

Measurements:
Length I'm going to guess on, 4.5 - 5in and the ring size is about 50 -52 at it's thickest spot.

After Thoughts: Yes I know another new section, but you won't find many after thought sections. I was mainly thinking of my friend Dylan while smoking this bad boy, I think this would be one he would enjoy immensely.

Until next time, happy smoking!

Partagas Black Label (Maximo)

To be honest I was a bit disappointed with this cigar, first off it was rolled too tight and wouldn't burn evenly, I was even more disappointed since it came from the famed Partagas factory. Partagas has a long history of quality premium cigars, but my question is what the fuck happened here?

Like I've said before I won't completely judge the entire line because of one single cigar, but this one was way under par.

Nose: 8.5
Since it came wrapped in a bit of cedar that made the smell wonderful, you can smell the strong natural wraper over the cedar, which promised a good strong smoke.

Taste: 3 the cigar was too tight to really taste much

Draw: 3 It was possible, but not einjoyable, kind of like drinking a milkshake though one of those little straws you stir coffee with at fast food places.

Room Note: ?
didn't really smoke it long enough to be able to tell, i got mad and tossed it

Size: 6in Ring Size 50

Life in my humidor: so far, none.

I hope to rreview this one agian soon, i've ready many reviews but most of them are at places sponsored by cigar companies, while mine not biased

Until next time, happy smoking

Review: Punch Gran Puro (Libertad)

uThis is a very nice smoke, full bodied and has a nice hint of spice in it. It comes in a metal tube with a layer of spanish cedar wrapped around it to give it a good bit more of that cedar flavor that I love so much. Sometimes i keep some of the cedar arouns just to smell it from time to time. it has a farly large ring guage, and yes I realized I left the size of the last cigar from my review but i forget it. I won't for break out one of these bad boys I usually here "damn that is a huge cigar"!

The Gran Puro is one of my many favrite cigars, it's strong but not so strong that it makes you think "Jesus i think my mouth is on fire!" It's about a 7.5 on the strength meter but that bit of spice really makes it worth enjoying it until you almost smoke enough to burn your finger tips.

So on to the ratings!

Nose: 8
You get a lot of cedar which as you know I love, but not much spice.

Taste: 9.5
One of the best out there as far as taste goes as far as I'm concerned, but again we all have different ideas of what tastes good.

Feel: 9
Very nice and uniform, mostly from being in the meal tubes, those help a lost during shipping and prevnting your prized cigars from being banged up.

Draw: 7
Draw i gave a 7 because of the large size it's kind of hard to draw from sometimes, but not so hard as to ruin the experience. It's still in my top cigars and is a great long lasting smoke

Room note: 10
This bad boy really stinks up a room fast, and keeps the flavor of the cigar well in the smoke, that bit of spice really sticks around.

Life in my Humidor: 4
I like to keep a few of these guys around, especially in the winter.

Measurements (told you I wouldn't forget this time)
Length: 5 in Ring Size 52.

Review: A. Fuente La Florina 8-5-8

When i'm looking for a good all around cigar, I pick this one, in fact Arturo Fuente is in my top five cigar manufacturers. I never really put my top five in any certain order, because all manufacturers have one or two cigars that are pretty hit and miss.

The 8-5-8 has a nice size to it, a goos cigar to just keep a supply of when you want to enjoy a smoke when there s now special occasion this cigar can be enjoyed at anytime. One thing that never disappoints is how well it's made, I have not yet had one that was either too loose or too hard to draw from and caused me to just pitch it out the car window or let it go out so it can be disposed of later.

Upon first light you get a perfect mix of smoothness and the medium flavor of pure natural tobacco. It has very slight understones of spice and a bit of creaminess.

The room note or the lingering smell of the smoked stogie is pretty nice, it smells like like the cigar before lighting, well to me it does.

An important bit of the entire cigar experiece is the nose, or the initial smell of the cigar. Like wine, brandy, or good beer. A good cigar should have smells of cedar, natural tobacco, depending on the wrapper you may mell a hint of spice, a bit of bitterneess, and a smell of almonds. Like smelling or nosing wine do not just give it a small casual whiff, give it a deep gentle smell, hell blow your nose after you mell if and then smell it agian.

Now on to tasting, after lighting, which i will make a tutorial for later, puff slowly, even hold it in your mouth for a second, blow out the smoke and think of what you tasted. Now to some people a cigar will always taste like rolled up burning leaves, but to to others it is a joy to the tastebuds. Now not the after tastedid it leave a very terrible taste in your mouth, or did it leave the taste of the initial light and puff? If you can taste many, or at the least two or three of the underling tastes that exist in your very fine stogie, then good, if not keep at it and if after a while you don't like it then toss them or give them to that uncle you have to loves cigars.

towards the middle of the cigar you may notice a slight change in taste, that's one more thing that can really make or break a cigar, this is most noticeable in a Cohiba.

Now on to the actual ratings

Nose: 7
mild, most noticeable is the cedar smell.

Taste: 7
Smooth pure tobacco with a hint of spice, not harsh like some cigars

Feel: 10
Very nice to hold, very for but not rolled too tight wrapping stays on.

Draw: 8
Nice but on this particular one it's not as good as it could be, but i am not going to judge all of them by one single stogie.

Room Note: 9
I will linger a while, as all cigars do, but it has kind of a woody smell, and of course a smokey one, but not a string smell, not one most people object to. This makes it a good cigar to smoke in the monpany of cigarette smokers, as they are the ones most likely to object to the smell of a cigar anyway.

Life in my humidor:1 I love these cigars, they are my good all around smoke and i usually smoke them oncei buy them, bad habit of mine, but so nice.

Until next time, happy smoking!

Welcome it the Inked Geek Cigar Review.

So why did i create this blog? Why did i make a blog about something so complex as cigar revies? Simply because it doesn't need to be complicated. In the words of Gary Vaynerckuck, "only you know what you like, my palette is different that your's, I can't truely tell you what you are going to like."

That's the approach i'm going to take today and from now one with this blog. Most of you who love cigars may enjoy a very strung and full bodied smoke like a Cohiba, or you may enjoy a smoother creamier smoke like an Arturo Fuente la florina 8-5-8 or even something a bit milder like a Punch after dinner cigar. (granted Punch does make some very fine full bodied cigars.)

But here's to you who love cigars or those who are curious about cgars and don't know all of the fancy terms.

I'll start reviewing ASAP and if you have any review requests email me at iwishihadaname88@gmail.com and yes i'll even accept hate mail haha.

Until next time, happy smoking.
